Happy New Year! (Almost!)

Hello Lovelies!

Well, it's been an exciting Christmas season to say the least! With a fashion show one week and a wedding the next, we've been busy but in the best possible way. I know that I personally feel truly blessed by all of the great opportunities we've had and the beautiful memories that were made during this time.

Me and Leeb being super excited about looking super fly, yo! :-D
I have to say, I was super pleased with every single aspect of my wedding. I didn't have anything "go wrong" or freak out about anything, because to be quite honest, I was looking forward to the party. That was what was getting me through the formal feeling and the slight anxiousness of seeing so many people at such an special event. In fact, 146 guests packed into a church set for only about 100...we had to have guests use some of our extra chairs and even some people were standing in the hallway! It's safe to say, Kevin and I are an extremely loved couple, and we are honored to have been shown such love by so many of our friends and family. In fact, Kevin's dad's side of the family came up from Texas, including Kev's step brother Jeremy who was one of his groomsmen. Here's a picture of my ENTIRE family, new and old (both mine and Kevin's side!)

As I said, everything about our wedding was absolutely perfect and the reception was perhaps even more perfect. I had a blast dancing so much! I don't think I even danced that much at both of my proms combined! It was a wonderful time of celebration with friends and family, and all I can say is that I feel so blessed.

Now...now that I've finished reminiscing about my awesome wedding, it's time to talk about some updates.

Firstly, we will be starting the Color of the Month with the beginning of the New Year! This months color is Frozen in Time. The color of the month will be on sale for that entire month for $3 for a full size jar.

Secondly, we are excited to announce that we have begun formulating two new products that we hope to have out sometime in February! There are no official names yet, but we are working on some mineral face powders! The first test was at the fashion show and they seemed to wear well then. The second test was the wedding, and I have to say that I thought they looked great! That's what I am wearing in all of the photos from the wedding!

I'd created basically 4 "shades; Invisible Blend, Shade 01, Shade 02, and Shade 03. I personally prefer the invisible blend because it gets rid of shine and helps airbrush without giving any color, and I always know I can use it on other people, so and Invisible Blend has always been a part of my makeup artistry kit. Shade 01 is the "foundation-like" mineral powder that I wore over a tinted moisturizer at my wedding. I used the tinted moisturizer to give some extra, long wear coverage to my dry skin. A normal combination to oily combination skin type would probably feel completely comfortable without a tinted moisturizer. Shade 02 is about 2 shades darker, and shade 03 is about 2-3 shades darker than that. The nice thing about mineral powders is they are very forgiving colorwise because they blend SOOOOO well. I loved the powders, but I'd like to work on them a bit more, develop some more colors, etc, before we release them. Plus, we need to come up with a cute time-related name. :-)

The blushes are another adventure entirely...lol. We still have a lot to do with shades on those, so keep your eyes out for new info about those!

That's pretty much all for now ladies!

Hope you all have a wonderful New Year! <3

Hugs,
Mrs. Tiffany Mertz
Get used to my new last name, lol. I'm no longer "Rusin."

Storenvy=AWESOME!!

Hello Ladies!!

Okay, so I woke up on this lovely thanksgiving morning when my alarm on my cell phone woke me up. I looked at my phone and saw that I had recieved and email from Storenvy about some new sale thing they had going on....I was thinking it was a sale to use the "use your own domain" thingy, but instead when I checked it out, they had created new ways of putting discounts on products!! I was like HECK YES!!!

In the past, when we have had sales, we literally go into each item and have to manually change the price, which is super duper lame. Now they have a way of doing buy X get X free, specific percentage stuff that works automatically, specific $ off, and stuff like that! Needless to sale, I was doing backflips.

Because of all these shenanigans, we are altering the way the sale is going to work just slightly.

**The PRICES on the WEBSITE will appear to be REGULAR price UNTIL YOU GO TO CHECK OUT!
When you proceed to check out, it will put lines through the original prices and show the NEW price in AWESOME RED LETTERS!!! :-D

So far, I've been messing with it this morning and I thought I would be able to get it to do combine multiple promotions...apparently it does not. :-( They can only accomplish so much I guess lol. I'm sure it's something that Storenvy is still working on, but I don't think they are going to have it figured out in time for the big sale tonight. So instead, I worked out the math, and EVERYTHING is going to just be 30% off.

Here's how that works on the website....

This is a screenshot from my testing of the new discounts.
It automatically makes all FULL SIZES = $3.46 (an additional 4 cents more than the original sale price!)
..................................all SAMPLE SIZES = $0.49 (an additional 1 cent off)
..................................all IESB = $2.80 ( 5 cents less than the sale price, but if you look at it, it evens itself out...4+1=5....5-5=0  So it's basically the same sale, just set up a little differently.

Now...the problem comes with using our OTHER discount codes. Previously we had said we would be able to use them. Apparently this issue has not been addressed yet with Storenvy either and while I was test driving the checkout process, I noticed there was nowhere for me to enter an additional coupon code.

Because of this, we are going to make everything out to be 45% off, so that everyone will get the same discounts and it will be all around a fair sale for all.

This NEW DISCOUNT now looks more like this....
And I think you will all be happy with the new sale stuff. :-) SO LET'S SPREAD THE WORD!!!

You guys can thank Storenvy! I know that I am for making out sale process much less time consuming!! :-D

Hugs,
Tiffany

Elizabeth Does a Photo Tutorial!

I have to say, this was my first photo tutorial, so please be gentle with me. I wanted to start with something easy, classy, and wearable for all. I decided a classic smokey eye was the way to go. I have yet to find someone who can't pull off a nicely done smokey eye. Even people who say "I can't wear dark colors," tend to look good with a smokey eye because they are fully customizable. Afraid of black pigment? Use more whites and grays and just a teensy bit of black on the outer corner! Like a dark dark smokey eye? Try using a black base instead of a white one, or use more black pigment. Smokey eyes don't have to be just white, gray/silver, and black either! You can use and endless combination of colors and still look fab! I like to use reds and pinks for an ultra dramatic eye (this may come at a later date, if you'd like.) Anyhoo.... On to the tutorial!

To start with, pick out your pigments (obviously) Today, I'm using Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, and Time Warp... Again. (All Tick:Tock future releases) Also used in the look: Infinity Eyeshadow Base in Milky Way and Black Hole (tightlining, see video farther down the page) and Glory Box Cosmetics eye primer, TKO. Priming step is not pictured because I forgot. To apply primer, just squeeze a little bit out onto your finger and smear it all around your eye, let it sit for a few to dry and go from there.

Clockwise from top left: Something Borrowed, Something Old, Time Warp... Again, IESB Black Hole, IESB Milky Way, Something New.

I also get all of the brushes I think I might need out and ready, so that everything is within reach. Here are all of the brushes I used today. :) Brush descriptions are in the captions.

I use this little guy to add a smidge of color to my tear duct.

These are nothing fancy, they came in some Loreal HIP loose pigments. I use them for applying the majority of the color to my lids.

This is a fluffy crease brush that I use to blend away the harsh lines in my crease/orbital bone.

This is a soft, fluffy blending brush that I use to blend color out from my crease and soften harsh lines.
This is a flat shadow brush. I generally use it to apply pigment to my water line.

I'm not entirely sure what this brush is called. I just know it's small and fluffy. I use it for my highlight color.

This handy little guy is a double ended eyeliner brush. I use it to apply my base with.

To start with (after priming) spread your base all over your eyelid and blend it so that it's less likely to crease.

Blendy blendy!
All blended out.
After you get your base applied and blended, then it's time to move onto shadows. I like to start on the inner corner and work my way out. You can go either way. I also go from eye to eye, this helps keep everything more even. What you didn't see with this tutorial is that I would do the eye I was photographing, set my camera down and then do my other eye. This whole thing was quite a process... Anyway. Load up your brush with your lightest color and PAT (very important! It helps your pigment be brighter and reduces glitter fallout)

After you've patted your lightest color into place, move on to the next darker color.

Once again, move on to the next darkest color. You may have noticed that I've not blended anything just yet. I don't worry about blending until all my colors are in place.

This is where you would normally be done, but I used four shadows for this instead of just three, I have one more set of pictures. This last step is the one that usually scares people because I'm bringing out the straight black pigment. As you can see in the last photo up there, I saved a bit of room for the last color. I'm not adding a huge amount of black pigment to the outer corner, but I feel using black instead of ending with a dark gray/silver looks better (personal preference.)

Now that you've gotten all your pigment in place, you may think you are done. You can be, if that floats your boat, but I don't like the harsh line in my crease. (Illustrated below.)

See that harsh line? Get ready to kiss it goodbye.
Here is where your fluffy crease brush will be your friend. I like to take the dark gray/silver and get a little on my crease brush and then swirl it around in the lid. You don't want much on the brush, just enough to add a little color and smooth out that line.

Once I've gotten it blended to where I want it,  I grab my fluffy blending brush and blend that out from my crease further. *Note: There is NO pigment whatsoever on the blending brush. Use the shadow you already have applied to blend.

This is what you should have after blending the crease out.
Now, you could once again call this done. I personally like to have a highlight color and like to add a little white to my duct. For your highlight color, I generally use the same color that I'm putting in my duct (which in this case is the same white that I used on the inner corner of my eyelid) Once again, I load a little bit of shadow onto my small fluffy brush and then swirl it around in the lid. I don't want too much color under my brow.

Lightly brush your highlight color into place.
I totally failed at taking a picture of my little brush for my duct color with the pigment on it, but I'm sure you get the idea of what to do. Just load it up with a bit of color and lightly pat/swipe into place and blend out toward the middle of you lower eyelid and up into the white on the inner corner.

I also failed miserably at getting finished pictures, but I did film a tutorial on tightlining that has my finished look. All I did after this point was add mascara and eyeliner. I shall link my video below. Enjoy!

Here it is!!

Busy, Busy, Busy! + Leeb is kind of super fantastic!

Hello Ladies!

We apologize for not having updated this for a while, both Elizabeth and myself have been very busy.

I'm planning my wedding, going to classes, doing homework, directing a short play, trying to get my car fixed...you name it, and I am probably struggling to do it at this point.

I have to send a HUGE THANK YOU to Elizabeth for all the hard work she's been putting into things since school/wedding planning has consumed my soul. Tick:Tock would not be going as strong if it were not for her. So I have to say, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU ...... While that seems a bit unnecessary, I have to say that it truly is. She is simply wonderful, and we could not have a more capable and driven Vice President of this company. More importantly, I could not think of another friend more loyal than my Leebster, who is also one of my bridesmaids in my wedding. She's the un-official ring-leader of the bachelorette party activities, too. :-) She pretty much just rocks all out hardcore. <3<3<3 Thank you, Leeb. <3<3<3

Second order of business, I want to thank everyone who has participated in the Football contests so far!! I have to admit, I didn't realize how many ladies were really into footbool, and I applaud you all on your team spirit and creativity! I also wish luck to all the ladies who will enter throughout the rest of the season! I can't wait to see more entries! :-)

Have a great day! Later taters!

Just submit your look to Ticktock.cosmetics@gmail.com by October 20th.

The Prize:

Halloween is fast approaching!

Hello Lovelies!

Many of you have asked when the Infinity Eye Shadow Base in Black Hole will be released. We are excited to finally be able to let you know what's up! Infinity ESB in Black Hole will be released on October 1st

Well, it's almost ready...The Very Zombie Halloween Collection!

Elizabeth and I LOVE talking zombies. We both watch the Walking Dead series, enjoy Shawn of the Dead, and discuss our emergency plans for the zombie apocalypse. So when it came time to put together our first collection for Halloween, the theme of zombies seemed only fitting. :-)

So, to give you a bit more indepth info on the collection, here are the products you can expect to be a part of the collection:

Here are all of the colors and their names! A total of 7 eye shadows!
There are 7 eye shadows available in the Very Zombie collection, all of which are designed with 2 uses in mind. The first being, of course, everyday wear. The second, to be used by anyone who wants to be a zombie for halloween, but still look good! We tested this in our promotional shoot, wanting to make ourselves look like zombies, and I have to say we were successful (with the addition of fake wounds and blood) in being pretty zombies. :-) The shoot produced lots of excellent shots, including this one...

You don't wanna mess with these lovely zombies! Lol.

Also, new to Tick:Tock Cosmetics is the second part of the Very Zombie Collection...LIP GLOSSES!

First ever Tick:Tock Glosses!
We also created these glosses with the idea of being used for Halloween as well as throughout the year! Okay...so maybe Ravenous, Night of the Walking Dead, and A Long Kiss Undead aren't as wearable during the year...but for Halloween or your local Zombie Crawl, they are PERFECT and GORGEOUS! Infected, A Breakfast of Tiffanies, and Zombling could be called the more "wearable" shades from this collection. My personal favorite is ZomBLING, but there are limited quantities of these colors, since our supplier no longer offers the colors of glitter used in it. As far as wearablility goes, they are all pretty wearable really. They have what is called a buildable coverage. Use a little bit for a very sheer look, or add more for more pigmentation! So in truth, they are all pretty wearable. I've even worn A Long Kiss Undead out and it looks really neat applied sheerly. The green counters any redness to your lips, and the red undertone turns to almost a neutral shade and looks lightly glossed. :-) They are pretty versatile!

Also included with the collections are some additional goodies! Cute spider rings, bat rings, vampire fangs, and mini "trick or treat" buckets are included! (Pictures coming soon!)

We will begin holding sets by email only on a first come-first serve basis. You can email us at ticktock.cosmetics@gmail.com to reserve your full set! :-)

More information can be FOUND HERE. PLEASE READ!

That is all!

Hugs,
Tiffany

FDA Cosmetic Grade Glitter Concerns.

Recently there was an announcement on a supplier website that cosmetic grade glitter is not on the approved list per FDA. Research has shown that this is indeed the case. FDA is providing an interim period for formulators, both indie and corporate, to respond. Responses could range from reformulation to petitioning to have cosmetic grade glitter, which has been used for years in cosmetics, approved by FDA. At this point we will continue to formulate using the industry standard .004 micron cosmetic grade glitter while we await FDA's decision. We are very encouraged by the fact that the ingredient has been in use for years, is approved by the EU, and that FDA is at this point not barring its use. It should also be noted that unapproved does not equal unsafe. We would never use any ingredient in our cosmetics that were labeled unsafe for eye use. We will be working over the next few days to mark which of our shades contain cosmetic grade glitter so that you may choose whether or not you wish to purchase them. We appreciate your patience while we await the decision and are confident that there will be a swift resolution that will be beneficial for everyone. If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to email us at Ticktock.cosmetics@gmail.com. Thank you.

Wants for the future...

Hello Lovelies!

This post isn't about anything really related to a new product we're created, a contest we're doing, or anything really "businessy" like that. This is a bit more personal, but still deeply affects Tick:Tock Cosmetics.

It's about me, debating career moves, possibly adding more schooling into my future. I'm considering getting a degree in Cosmetic Chemistry/Cosmetic Science. It would take up to 8 years to receive my master in this field, as it requires that I get a science degree (probably biology or chemistry) first. However, the gains to be made from this step are huge, because it would enable me to better formulate products, understand "how it works" in a more efficient way, rather than our current trial-and-error approach to creating more complex cosmetics (like our base...which was a LOT of trial-and-error.)

However, I could also take the shorter, but still extremely beneficial to our baby company, and pursue a Business degree. I'd be better able to understand marketing, how to best run a business, and well...learn on the stuff I probably need to know right now but don't. It would be extremely helpful, however...it's only purpose would be to make more money in order to expand the company further and further. We'd like to have an actual building someday, where we would have a "lab" and an actual store where people in our local community would have a unique alternative to mass produced makeup and cosmetics.

Or, instead of going to school for these things, I could buy books about them, and learn for myself. The only difficulty in that is if I have a question, or don't understand a topic, I have no way to really get help. It would be tough. Really tough. But, let's be honest here...it's gonna be WAY cheaper than any of the options above. However, I would have nothing that says "Hey, I am legit qualifiied to do this."

So I guess this begins my year of making big life choices. I'll be getting married, and let's be real, we will probably start a family in the next 5 to 10 years.

And I think perhaps part of the reason I turned this into a post was to just get some feedback, advice, etc. from others. It's a tough decision. Any feedback or experiences you've had in the past would be super appreciated. <3

Thanks everyone.

Hugs,
Tiffany

Are You Ready for Some FOOTBALL?!

It's Elizabeth's favorite time of year again, football season. She spends hours on Sunday watching the early game, late game, Sunday Night Football. Then she moves onto Monday and Monday Night Football on NBC. She's a little obsessed. In honor of her love for football, we've decided to run a contest that will run from the start of the regular season all the way until the Super Bowl. You want details? Here they come!

The idea of the contest is to pick which team you think is going to win out of the games played in the given week. You can pick your favorite team, the underdogs, or the favored team, it's totally up to you. You will then do a look inspired by that team's colors and email it to Ticktock.cosmetics@gmail.com . We will start an album on our fan page where we will load the images. If your team wins, you win! It's as simple as that! Before we get to the rules, would you like to see what you're playing for?

The Prizes:

Regular Season: If you have chosen the winning team to base your look off of, you will win two (2) samples of your choice!

Post Season: If you have chosen the winning team to base your look off of, you will win four (4) samples of your choice!

Super Bowl: If you have chosen the winning team to base your look off of, you will win two (2) full size pots and two (2) samples of your choice!

The prizes are small, but that's because there can be more than one winner a week! How awesome is that?!

Official Rules:

!. You must be a follower of this blog and a fan of Tick:Tock Cosmetics on Facebook

2. You may participate in one game a week (Sunday - Saturday) You are not required to participate every week if you do not wish to. If your team has a bye week, you can take a bye week, or you can choose a random team. We're not too picky on this. :)

3. Looks must be submitted before the start of the game in order to qualify. If the game starts at noon, we need your pictures before noon. If your game doesn't start until 4, please have your look submitted before then.
4. You can be as crazy or as tame with your look as you want. All that we ask is that you use all the colors that represent your team. If you choose the Patriots, you must use red, white, and blue. If you choose the Raiders, you must use black and silver/gray.

That's all the details! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email us for clarification and we will update this post to reflect any confusion. The contest begins when regular season begins. Lets see your team spirit and have fun!!

Infinity ESB=Totally a HUGE Success!! & Other News

Hello Lovelies!

Thanks to all of our customers who ordered during our 24 hours Infinity Eye Shadow Base Launch Sale last Saturday, I have to say it was a HUGE success! Such a huge success, that we were able to order lots more supplies to make MORE colors!

Speaking of making more colors...we will be offering a Custom Colors option! If you want a color we don't offer (yet!) then by simply sending us an email and a description of what you would love to have us create, we will be more than happy to create this color for you!! You can even name it yourself!! :-) This might even be a fun way to expand the Tick:Tock Originals collection!

Also, we HAVE released the Tea Time Collection, so if you haven't snacked up one of these limited edition sets, the clock is ticking!! And I have to say, the colors are GORGEOUS!! I wear them pretty much every day, and I just can't seem to get enough of them!

The new colors we created will soon be available in sample and full size! There were 6 colors created during our fun night watching the website during our Infinity ESB sale, and I have to say they are also some of my new favorites! I'll have to post more at another time about those though...:-)

Thanks for reading! Stay tuned for more about the new colors!

Hugs,
Tiffany

Baggies and Product Descriptions UPDATED

Hey Ladies!

This update will be pretty short, there are just a few things I wanted to make sure you were all aware of!

New Sample Baggies!
YES! We are going to be phasing out our long sample baggies in exchange for the small square ones!

More Information in our Product Descriptions!
We have added "This product, and ALL products by Tick:Tock Cosmetics are always 100% Vegan!" to the descriptions of every product! We want to make sure that customers understand that we are a 100% vegan company, and so we definitely need to make sure it is posted everywhere, and not just assume people will know that fact about it. It's MY job to make sure you see that and understand what that means!

That's all for now, ladies!

See you Saturday for the HUGE sale!

Hey Ladies!

You have until midnight on the 19th to get your entries in. Winners will be announced within the week, hopefully by Wednesday of that week. It will depend on when Elizabeth and I can get together that week.

We'd love to see some more entries because we want lots of people to get a chance to win! If you don't see your entry on the Facebook Album or in the comments section on the blog, then we haven't gotten it for some reason. PLEASE EMAIL US ONLY IF YOU DON'T SEE YOUR CREATIVE CONTEST ENTRY! New Product Coming Soon!

Exciting news, everyone!

We have officially begun the process of formulating our very own eye shadow base!

Be on the look out for our newest product...

INFINITY EYE SHADOW BASE!

Obviously there is no product in that jar...this is simply our promo image to get everyone excited about the product!

What information can we give you about this product? Well, we are formulating it to be comparable to the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil, HOWEVER the NYX Sticks, as they are often called, is NOT VEGAN.

We are formulating our Infinity Eye Shadow Base to be completely 100% vegan, just as always! We are also going to be packaging it in a 5 gram pot (without a sifter obviously) and with shrink band around the outside. Our reasoning? Because it will fit easily into your current Tick:Tock Cosmetics Eye Shadow collection since it will be exactly the same size! And finding it in your collection will be easy too! Infinity Eye Shadow Base will be the ONLY Tick:Tock product to come with a black lid instead of a clear lid! No chance of accidentally grabbing a Time Square jar when you really just need your Infinity Base!

To use IESP, you can either use your fingers or use a brush! It is always better to use a brush when applying any cosmetics as that is the best way to evenly distribute the product.

We expect to receive our supplies within the next couple weeks, at which point the formulation process will begin!

We will keep you posted on how our progress goes as we venture into developing this awesome new product!

Words cannot describe just how thrilled Elizabeth and I are as we anxiously await TUESDAY, when the issues will be available to the public! But...just to give everyone a little taste...

Our little tag on the top says "Tick:Tock...this local venture is laying the foundation for success." HAHA HOW CUTE?!

...of US ON THE COVER, YO!!!! Like I said, we are kind of stoked about this opportunity we've been given to show our local community what we are up to! I am sure many of you will want a chance to see what was said in the article. There is a digital version that should be available sometime after Tuesday, I'm sure, online that you can all read and enjoy!

HOW TO READ:

  1. Click Here. <---Terre Haute Living website.
  2. Scroll Down.
  3. On the right side of the page, you will see a little book flipping it's pages that says "Digital Edition" above it.
  4. Click that little book. It will pop up and you should be able to read the new issue once it's available!
  5. YAY!

You can currently read the last issue that was published to see a little bit into the town that Elizabeth and I call home. :-)

In other news, we have 2 entires in the creative contest going on right now, you can read more about that here. I'm really excited to get more entries! Whoot! The two we are are really awesome so far! I love that they are names I probably wouldn't have thought of myself. :-)
